Personally, I’m not a fan of game guides. I don’t think they do much other than ruin the content for you before you get there. So, I was surprised when I discovered that WotLK Secrets was anything but a big spoiler filled, fluff ridden guide that didn’t do much other than make the game less fun. Think of it more like a GPS device on a road trip. It gives you directions and guidance when you ask it to without telling you everything you’re about to see.

To start with, the guide covers all the basic aspects of the game’s new content. You will learn how to start a Death Knight, how to master Inscription, what you will face in all the new raids, all the new glyphs you have access to, ins and outs of the new achievement system, the changes to your classes, and whole lot more really nifty, really useful new details.

Mage Leveling Guide

Mages are one of the most complicated class to play with in World of Warcraft. That is why a lot of player cannot level their mage enough fast because they are confused by the numerous options. But there are others, who understand how to play with a mage, what talents and items to choose. They are the fastest players in the WoW in terms of leveling.

Talents
In case of mage, all the talent trees are designed to do damage with them, so it is really hard to choose the talent tree. One of the most important thing, when choosing a talent tree is the mana efficiency, that’s why I think the Fire tree is the best for leveling. I recommend you to mainly choose passive abilities like Improved Fireball, Ignite, Flame Throwing and Critical Mass because you already have all the damaging spells you need. All you need to do now, is to improve their damage and mana efficiency. Although, Pyroblast is very good talent in the Fire tree so pick it up and use it at the very beginning of each fight. While we mainly focus on the Fire tree, it is worth putting some points in the Arcane tree to get the Arcane Concentration talent.

Gear
For mages, choosing the right stats are critical, so a good mage leveling guide must give advice on choosing the right items. At lower levels, the most important statistics is the intellect and the stamina. You will desperately need both mana and health points, so get as much intellect and stamina as possible. Later, you will not really rely on your health points in terms of surviving due to the numerous survival spells you get at higher levels. So, it is time to focus on dealing more damage. I recommend you to get spell power and critical strike rating. After level 60 these two will be the most important statistics for you.

With the updates released for World of Warcraft in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, and its updates, the dynamics of player vs player combat have changed once again. With the new rules, its becoming increasingly popular to create highly specialized protection Paladins. If you want to avoid being another speed bump on the battlefield of your PVP server should you too invest the talent points required for deep specialization in the protection tree? Well, that depends on your playing style, but some of the new builds circulating seem to make this a choice worth making.

Obviously these builds are designed to rely heavily on the Protection tree of Paladin specialization. While the preferred PVP set up for paladins in the past relied on Holy and Retribution, this is an all new set up that when used correctly can let the Paladin absorb massive amounts of damage while still hammering away on his enemy. If you can’t absorb the high damage hits that are so common in PVP conflicts, you’ll be regretting lost time spent lying on your toon’s dead back. The whole point in wearing plate armor is to take punishment – and the protection tree when fully developed can give a paladin a host of abilities that let you take tons of damage and still not fall.

This set up works because you wind up using abilities like Guarded by the Light and Touched by the Light to generate large amounts of mana and critical heals. It also opens up the possibility of such buffs and defensive techniques as Divine Sacrifice, Sacred Shield. Combine that with abilities like Hammer of Justice for quick mob stuns, and Avenger’s Shield leaving multiple mobs dazed at range and it’s easy to see how developing the protection specialization tree can unlock some real potential for the paladin class.

Leveling in Northrend will be the next hurdle every World of Warcraft player will have to get over. With a whole new world available it will be interesting to see just how effective we’ll all be at it. While many of our community have already had a first crack at Northrend because of the beta server many of us have not. That being said it’s safe to expect a few people to catapult themselves to 80, having had some exposure to WOTLK, knowing the lay of Northrend and yes even the quests. Those who manage to level from 70-80 quickly will find themselves alone in the end game type raids and instance reaping all the rewards and leaving many behind in the dust, while those who are going to be experiencing leveling from 70-80 for the first time will most likely have to grind there way to level 80. The question on many peoples’ minds is, “How can I level from 70-80 the fastest?”

Leveling in WOTLK will now be a breeze for two groups of people:
1. Those that had exposure to the beta servers and know the new Northrend area as well as the quests; and,
2. Those that get their own WOTLK leveling guide to level the playing field.

Alas, those who do not will eventually level from 70-80, but perhaps weeks after the first surge of people have already hit the magical level 80.
Those are the groups you can fall into, I know which one I’m in (2).

We’ll have to see just how long the next 10 levels take to achieve, but if the old 60-70 leveling is any indication; we’re talking weeks if not months.
